So this is the look I'm going for... I am going to look for a vintage mantle but if I don't find one, I'll make a similar one to this. .
In the beginning..... Wow, so much to do.... Gold walls will be Sterling Mist. The overall look will include black, silver and touches of natural wood.. See the Peacock against the future wall color photo. It has a touch of blue.
You can see the future wall color in the background behind the Peacock lovebirds.
So the transformation begins....Chalk painted rock fireplace.
Hours later.....Noticing that the wainscotting is going to need an uplift too. The floor carpet has been removed. It was GLUED down. So I'll need to get an industrial sander. The wall on the right has some moisture issues. I'll be using a primer that is used in basements. The walls are a concrete mixture so I can see that they might absorb moisture. I have begun scraping off what I can.
Gosh this takes a long time. I still haven't gotten the hearth done.....My arms are sore. The floor once sanded will be stained and glazed.
This is the look I'm dreaming of for the studio floors. Tracy and I spent the day Working with a concrete grinder to get the layers of carpet glue off of the floor so that I can stain it. We were both covered with sludge. Tonight we both wonder if we will be able to move tomorrow. Every part of my body hurts.
My hero working hard. Not sure what I would do without him.
The walls are getting a coat of texture application to unify the years of unique additions which will create an artistic feel.
My contractor James Anderson Checks our work and takes some more measurements getting ready for our new storefront.
We've come a long way.... Still more to come.
A little concrete sludge just to remember this day by....
We have begun spraying the pressed tin ceiling a glorious silver to reflect the light.
One of my two beautiful gypsy lamps which will hang near the front picture window. They have received a coat of looking glass paint and each crystal was removed, cleaned, rewired and replaced. I can't wait to see these beauties in action!
